Introducing the Wright Opera House Community Room

The Wright Opera House Community Room is a 1,000-square foot multi-purpose room in the south bay of our basement level, located at the rear of 472 Main Street, Ouray. The vision for this Community Space is to bolster the Wright Opera House’s programming and community-minded mission by providing a venue for art classes, dance classes, meetings, exercise, and more. The Wright was able to complete this project with support from Susan & James Opdahl, and a grant from the Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley.

The Community Room features a small kitchenette with mini-refrigerator, sink, dishwasher and bar height counter. A single, gender neutral restroom is available inside the room. Wireless internet is available in the space, as well as wall mirrors and a seating area.

Interested in hosting your class in the Community Room?

It is free and available for local use, with ADA access available from the rear of the 472 Main Street building. A private parking lot is also available directly in front of the Community Room. Upcoming classes...

Weehawken Creative Arts Partnership

The Wright Opera House is thrilled to be partnering with Weehawken Creative Arts to once again offer dance programs in Ouray!

Classes begin August 26, culminating in 6 performances at the Montrose Pavilion in December. Classes will be held with Miss Tajiana in The Community Room.

Together we welcome a new teacher, Miss Tajiana. Tajiana Rueschhoff’s dance journey began at the age of 5 when she first stepped into a small ballet school in Mississippi, sparking a passion that would endure a lifetime. Growing up in Ouray, Colorado, she continues to nurture her love for dance with Weehawken, honing her skills over the years. It’s a full-circle moment as Tajiana return to her roots, teaching for Weehawken Dance at the Wright Opera House in Ouray, where she spent many years dancing with Miss Natasha. We’re thrilled to welcome her back to inspire a new generation of dancers in the same place that holds so many memories for her.
