Jan Lewis is a part-time Ouray resident, artist, and owner of Jan Lewis Gallery in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton, Florida. She began art training at Georgia State University and later applied her creative talents to rehabilitation, earning a BS in Occupational Therapy from Georgia Regents University, Alamosa, Colorado.
Jan explores a variety of art mediums: painting, photography, and collage. Her work explores a variety of styles from expressionistic representational paintings to abstract work in both painting and photography. The unifying theme behind the art is a relationship to nature in some form.
Her work has been accepted to numerous national juried art shows and has won several awards. Jan opened her own gallery in 2019 and is proud to be a member/merchant of the Village of the Arts, a one-of-a-kind enclave of working artists.
Atlanta natives, Jan and her husband Gary moved to Colorado in 1990. They discovered Bradenton 10 years ago, where they spend their winters, while their summers are enjoyed in Ouray, Colorado along with Teddy the Golden Retriever and Sophie the cat.
