“A remarkable balance between individual skill, ensemble understanding and overall excitement.” – Jeff Kaliss (Music Wire)
Flamenco guitarist Miguel Espinoza is described by Guitar Player Magazine as “mesmerizing,” Espinoza is much more than a virtuosic technician. Whether his lightning-fast fingers are skittering across the fretboard, fluttering over the sound hole like percussive hummingbird wings or skillfully drawing achingly beautiful melodies out of the strings, Espinoza’s award-winning compositions create an exotic, intoxicating musical elixir of flamenco fusion–one that is as sonically exciting as it is emotionally moving.
Joining Miguel is a truly all-star collection of musicians from a variety of musical heritages. On saxophone and percussion is Origin Arts recording artist and Grammy Nominated jazz educator Lynn Baker. Cellist Dianne Betkowski brings her acclaimed classical music experiences, having performed in the Utah, St. Louis, and Honolulu Symphony orchestras and is the founder and former director of Denver Eclectic Concerts. Adding the bottom is fretless electric bassist Randy Hoepker. Randy brings with him a wide variety of expertise including jazz studies at the University of Northern Iowa, and is the founding music director of Colorado Brass. Rounding out the ensemble is percussionist Andy Skellenger who contributes elements from Indian Classical Music and the drumming traditions of Peru,Cuba, and Spain on tabla and cajon.
