Wright Next Door: The Hole Story

Wright Next Door Damage

Early Friday morning, February 5, a significant number of Ouray residents and businesses were suddenly without power when a snow removal contractor snagged a power line while driving down Main Street. Electricity & internet service was knocked out across the city. The Wright Building on the corner of 5th Avenue & Main Street, owned by The Friends of the Wright Opera House and referred to as the Wright Next Door (WND), had a communication line attached to the side of the building which was pulled out, thus causing a hole in the side of the building. Thankfully, there was no damage to structural support or to any of the interior units of the building. Kit Meckel, Wright Opera House Board of Directors’ Secretary and Building Chairman, was able to hire Adam Kunz’s company, Red Mountain Construction, to patch the siding back in place until a more permanent repair can be made.
